ANSI/ASME B18.2.2 square thread nut can be turned with a square wrench. One of the first fasteners, the square nut is regarded by many as an easy-to-use fastener that holds even the most difficult parts. The first version of the square nut was carved out of wood and used on threaded dowels. The square design makes the ANSI/ASME B18.2.2 square nut bolt easy to create a properly sized wrench or tool to tighten the nut into place.
